Here's my thing! I've watched you and Narf tear up the desktop page on this site and others. So i must humble myself and ask for your assistance, I've been tryin to get Conky 1.7.2, reomved it in terminal, reinstall, created a conky folder, dropped a conky (rings.lua) script in .conkyrc but seems like im off somewhere. Im using ubuntu 9.10.

well i don't know what's probably going on... if you send me your .conkyrc and rings.lua i can help.

But first double check that you've write the right path to rings.lua in your .conkyrc

Then execute conky -c /home/your-user-name/.conkyrc

first, download or copy any config you like. Paste it on your /home/your-user-name/ and rename it to ".conkyrc". Then, execute "conky", you should see conky on your desktop.

Most of us, use lots of scripts for conky. That's why we create a folder named "Conky" or "Scripts", just to be tidy.

In that case, we "call" those scripts from ".conkyrc" with a path, something like: "exec /home/user/Conky/banshee.sh"

There is a lot of pages on internet that would help you to customize your conky.

its been some time since we last spoke. thought id give this another try however thiis is what i get when i run it in terminal...mike@mike-laptopubi910:~$ conky
Conky: llua_load: cannot open /home/mike/Scripts/clock_rings-v1.1.1.lua: No such file or directory
